Top 5 British co*cktail Recipes (2024)

One thing British people are good at is drinking. Their livers are no doubt made out of steel and even after spending a year in the United Kingdom; I still fail to understand how they manage to be alive the day after drinking so much. Their love of drinking inspired me to have a look at some of the British originated co*cktails. We all know about American co*cktails such as Bloody Mary, Margarita, and so on but do we really focus on co*cktails from other continents?

This article will help you know them, how to make them and where to get them when you are in the UK.

1. p*rnstar Martini

Top 5 British co*cktail Recipes (1) p*rnstar Martini

My personal favorite! p*rnstar Martini is for people like me who like to have a heavenly mix of sweet and sour co*cktails. A man named Douglas Ankrah – who apparently is a legend in the bartending world, created this magical org*smic co*cktail. The fact that he founded the London Academy of Bartending basically says how much of a legend he is. Porstar Martini was at first dubbed the Maverick Martini after a shady club in Capetown, South Africa (I wonder why) but then later on renamed as the p*rnstar Martini because of all the passion Ankhar would out into this drink.

And here is how you make it:

Pimm’s is the most English drink that you would ever find in the Brit world. It is a lovely drink to have during summer. The history of its origin is quite interesting – Once upon a time (about 1823), a farmer’s son named Pimm served a gin-based drink containing a secret mixture of herbs and liqueurs as an aid to digestion in an oyster bar owned by him in the City of London. He used to serve it in a tankard and called it the No. 1 Cup. Ever since then, Pimm’s began its large scale production in 1851 and produced about seven products. Pimm’s No. 1 Cup is more known and liked by the people, which is based on gin and can be served both on ice or in co*cktails.

This unique co*cktail happens to have been invented in London in 1919 by Harry MacElhone at Ciro’s Club after a mysterious lady. It also known as Delilah, Chelsea Side-car and Lillian Forever. It is unique because unlike simple gin sours, it has additional ingredients such as egg white, sugar and cream. Originally MacElhone used crème de menthe but later on replaces it with gin in Paris.

Here’s how to make this mysterious creamy sour:

Ingredients:

Ice Cubes 3-4
– Gin 50 ml (2fl oz)
– Cointreau 25 ml (1 fl oz)
– Fresh Lemon Juice 1 Teaspoon
– Egg White about ½ teaspoon
– Lemon Twist for decoration

Method:

Place the ice cubes in a co*cktail shaker and add the gin. Then add Cointreau, lemon juice and egg white. Shake to mix the strain into a coctial glass. Decorate it with the lemon twist.
