The USGA has started local qualifying for the 127th U.S. Open Championship scheduled from June 13 to June 16, 2024, at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club (Course No.2), Village of Pinehurst, NC. bringing the total number of local qualifying sites to 109 in 2024.
Local qualifying, comprising an 18-hole round, took place at 109 sites across 44 states and Canada from April 22 to May 14. Players who advance from local qualifying will join exempt players in sectional qualifying, conducted over 36 holes at 13 sites – 10 in the U.S., one in England, one in Canada, and one in Japan.
Last year, Wyndham Clark cemented his name in the history books, winning the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, Los Angeles, Calif.
Gordon Sargentof Vanderbilt finished as the low amateur. Sargent is the No. 1 ranked player in the Golfweek/AmateurGolf.com World Rankings.

In the final local qualifying site, amateur Andrew Ryland shot 1-over 73 to earn the lone qualifying spot in the 12-man field by one shot over fellow amateur Chance Wilson. Wilson is the first alternate, and Travis Evans is the second alternate.

Sadato and Lorenzo Rodriguez are the first and second alternates.

Matt McGann, a redshirt junior at Idaho, shot a 67 for a third-place finish, followed by Jason Alexander with a 68, securing the final spot from the qualifier.
